I'm sorry! and Tips on preparing for Winter Formal Dance/Prom

I know I said I would make a blog post on dresses suitable for Winter Formal/Prom dance. I'm sorry I decided not to. Instead, here are a few tips on how to make shopping and planning less stressful! (mostly for girls)
    • Buy your dress and shoes on the same day. This way, you'll be able to match your dress with your shoes. I know it's tiring to do ANYTHING after dress shopping, but trust me, you'll thank yourself later.
    • Don't stress about not getting the perfect shoe. No one will be staring at your feet. They'll all be worrying about their own after four tiresome hours of dancing.
    • Tell your date the color of your dress as soon as you get it, and make sure he goes out and find his matching tie/vest
    • Do not trust a guy to go to the florist and order your corsage. Either go with him or go with a friend and order a white rose with black ribbon corsage. It tends to match with any dress you pick out, and also, you can always go back to the florist and change it later. You just don't want to go at the last minute, and have the florist tell you that they got 3000 orders of corsages and boutonnieres; they can't take your order.
    • Don't stress about finding a necklace/earrings. Jewelry is not a priority, and it's okay to not wear any.
    • DO worry about how you're going to get to the location. Getting rides from parents may be just a little awkward. Get a group of friends and go in a limousine! (Unless your date is scared of them, of course, which sadly, is my case.)
    • Don't forget to buy a warm but dressy jacket that you can wear before and after the dance! Since most formal dances take place during the evening (mine is from 8PM to 12 AM), it's going to get chilly! I got mine from Forever 21!
    • Click here to buy/see it on the website
    • Get a clutch/little handbag that's not too small. You should be able to put your wallet (or at least your school ID card, some money, and your ticket) and a tampon/pad just in case mother nature decides to come for a visit.
    • Decide ahead of time and make reservations for dinner, if it is not served at your dance. This year, there will only be appetizers available at Winter Formal, so we're going to go eat before going to the dance.
    • Look at my blog post on hairstyles to wear for hair ideas!
I'll be adding more if I think of any. Happy dancing!

    Candles

It has come to my attention that an agglomeration (trying to use some of my SAT vocab!) of people absolutely love to burn candles during the winter, mostly for the warm aroma. Bath and Body Works sells some amazingly yummy smelly three-wick candles (Frosted Cupcake, anyone?), but I'd like to remind everyone about the harms in burning candles.

I don't want to get too scientific and eco-friendly freak on you, but the burning of candles not only burns oxygen (which gives YOU less oxygen to breathe in), but also releases an abundance of carbon dioxide, which causes global warming. Why does too much carbon dioxide cause global warming? In a nutshell, carbon dioxide is known to insulate heat. Assuming that global warming IS happening, the great amount of CO2 will further cause the increased temperature to stay at its increased state. (Did that make sense?) So basically, it'll make our planet stay hot, like a blanket.

I know that candles smell oh-so-good, and I don't mean to make you feel guilty, but just a quick warning to not burn too many this holiday season!

Cutest wallet! on trip to Loehmann's

I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon (literally) the cutest wallet ever at Loehmann's yesterday!
Co-Lab by Christopher Kon. Two-Tone Wallet.
    • Faux leather shell with purple nylon lining.
    • Gold-toned hardware.
    • Snapped closure.
    • Three cash pockets with eight credit card slots.
    • Zipped pocket with three compartments.
    • Wallet measures 7.25" wide by 4.5" tall.
I actually hate the picture a lot because it makes the wallet look stiff and weird, but in reality, this is the flimsiest wallet I've ever seen- in a good way. It's not soft, it's just... loose and squishy. This is a checkbook wallet, which I like because it makes my paper money flat and un-wrinkly. If you follow my blog you probably know that I LOVE zippers (and bows and cute/weird prints). I also like that the coin compartment is on the outside of the wallet, so I don't have to unbutton the actual wallet (and take the risk of losing some bills or having people see my library card picture!) to get out some pennies. And the best part about this? It was the LAST one at Loehmann's!! It was hidden under a bunch of Kenneth Cole wallets, AND it had no price tag! After they searched it up in the system for me, I was pleased to hear that it was 60% off (and I have a Loehmann's Gold Membership, so I get an extra 10% off). So, in total I payed around $6.50 for it!

In addition, I bought a Kenneth Cole Reaction Fit N Flare Hobo Bag at Loehmann's.

    materials:
    • Nylon and synthetic
    • Logoed lining
    measurements:
    • 10" high
    • 14.5" wide
    • 5.5" deep
    • 9.5" shoulder drop
    item details:
    • Zipper closure
    (details from endless.com)

To be honest, I'm not sure if I like it. I think the part I like most is that it was originally $79 and I bought it for $18. The material is a bit annoying though. It looks shiny and plastic-y, just like a black plastic bag. However, if it were convenient, I wouldn't mind so much. For school use, I wish the opening was bigger so that I can put in books and such more efficiently. I can fit a couple of books and notebooks, but I know that during the course of the school year, random stuff will have to start going into my bag, and then it'll get messy. Plus, I like to keep a light jacket with me, in case I get chills during class. If I put a jacket in this bag, I probably won't have much room for anything else. Furthermore, prefer cross-body bags over shoulder bags because it distributes the weight better, with all those books. However, I would probably carry my heavy books and binders anyway because I don't like having them weigh me down, so carrying some stuff isn't a problem for me.

Let me know what you think of it!

    Cindy's Big Bag Wishlist

I know school isn't going to start until September, but I am bored at the library and decided to look for a new bag/ backpack for the fall. (= Of course I could never afford most of these, but here are some bags I think are cuuuute and would VERY much appreciate getting as a gift! *wink wink* So I guess this is more like my wish list of big bags.

    CINDY'S BIG BAG WISHLIST
(get it? like Big Bad, but Big Bag?! Ahahahahahha)
    (In NO order):

Brogue Houndstooth Day Fluffy Velour Tote by Juicy Couture

This bag hasn't even come out yet! Until August 17th, you have to pre-order it. I like the black and white one, also known as "Angel White Multi". Tres cute!! It's $198 on the Juicy website, and $228 on Bloomingdale's?? O.o

Juicy Couture Small Coastal Sparrow Tote

    PRICE: $148.00 on Bloomingdales.com
I like just about anything with birds printed on it. This Juicy tote just so happens to be purple (my favorite color, in case you didn't know), AND have vertical stripes! (I also like vertical stripes, in case you couldn't tell by both my blog templates.) I think any kind of tote is appropriate for school. The only think I don't like about this one is the color of the "handles". The dark-ish brown doesn't really match.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS Miss Marc Gingham Shopper Tote

    PRICE: $148.00 on Bloomingdales.com

This tote is so nerdy-cute, just like me! I love it! Good for school-use because it has additional pockets for cell phone and stuff. Made with canvas! (=

MARC BY MARC JACOBS Classic Q Drawstring Leather Tote

    PRICE: $528.00 on Bloomingdales.com

The drawstring and the long belt-like strap make it easy to carry around at school. It's also always nice to have the option of using a strap or carrying your bag on your shoulder.

Juicy Couture Gen Y Exquisite Mess Canvas Bow Tote

    PRICE: $78.00 on Bloomingdales.com
I like the front. It's no secret that I adore bows.  I like the feather design thing. BUT THE BACK IS SO UGLY!! I hate shiny cheap-looking writing. ughhh totally ruins this bag. But since it's only $78 (well, cheap compared to the other bags!), I would just buy a piece of fabric and sew it on the back to cover it.

    LeSportsac EveryGirl Tote in Vaudeville

OMG OMG OMG. THIS HAS TO BE THE CUTEST TOTE EVER!!! I HAVE TO GET THIS. Donations are appreciated (= just kidding! Once I start making money (hopefully very soon) I'M GONNA BUY THIS!! I like the pastel colors and CUTE rabbit and cat print.

Ooh!! there are so many different styles from the Vaudeville collection:

    Alexander Wang Donna Leather Hobo

    $795 on Saks
I like the split zipper in front! I would buy the black one, but I posted a picture of the "Mocha" -colored bag just so I have more colors in the blog post. Perfect size for school!

Salvatore Ferragamo Ms. Vara Bow Tote

    $890 on Saks.
    BOW <3

Valentino Denim Medium Nuage (Exclusively at Saks)

$895. The color and texture are pretty! Although it is hard to tell from the front view, it has a big bow on the side.

...Still a little hard to tell )=

    L.A.M.B. Celendine Leather Zip Tote

Nothing too special; the front pockets look very convenient.

    $398.00 on Saks.

Nothing too special; the front pockets look very convenient.

Conair Infinity Nano Tourmaline Ceramic 1" Curling Iron Review

I was deciding between this and the regular Conair Instant Heat Styling Iron ($14.99) on my latest trip to Ulta. Although this one is $5 more expensive, it has a Tourmaline Ceramic barrel instead of the regular chrome barrel. There is still no real scientific evidence to back this up, but "experts" say that tourmaline ceramic plates or barrels reduce heat damage to hair by spreading out the heat and "locking in" moisture, which eliminates frizz. I don't know about that, but I LOVE this curling iron!

    FEATURES/PROS:
    • Tourmaline Ceramic™ technology emits ions to eliminate frizz
    • Infrared energy protects hair's natural luster
    • Doesn't snag hair at all
    • Powerful ceramic heater. I learned this the hard way, but basically it gets REALLY HOT, REALLY FAST.
    • Uniform heat recovery maintains constant temperature
    • Ultra-high heat levels 310-395°F
    • 30-second instant heat-up
    • Protective heat shield for safe, easy storage. Kind of cool!

    • Auto shutoff
    • LED temperature settings
    • Extra-long 9-foot professional-length cord
    • Limited five-year warranty
    • If you look closely at the picture, there is this black plastic thing on the bottom between the barrel and the blue handle that prevents your index finger from sliding onto the HOT barrel, and burning yourself.
    • The temperature setting buttons don't get in the way (=
    • IT'S PRETTY!!
    CONS:
    • I wish the handle/thumb part was longer; my thumb slides up the handle sometimes, and gets really close to the HOT HOT HOT metal part connected to the barrel.
    • I burned my thumb!!, and then I had to go to piano class with my throbbing finger and be expected to play a Beethoven Rondo perfectly. That is why I have been emphasizing how HOT this thing gets.
    • The black plastic joint on the tip of the curling iron is where I hold with my other and when I curl my hair, and unfortunately, it gets kind of hot as well. Of course, it doesn't heat up as much as the metal, but just be careful.
Overall, I like this curling iron a lot. The Conair Infinity was definitely a wise choice in purchasing a curling iron. 4 out of 5 stars!

BY THE WAY, this is usually $24.99 on the Conair website, but I guess it was on sale at Ulta (but not available on Ulta's website =/) for $19.99. Go buy it!

They will ship anything of any size, shape, or weight right now for only $5! WAHOOO <3 and there is also still free shipping on orders over $100.

Although it still doesn't change the fact that I can't afford any of it, I hope someone else can use this limited-time shipping offer. =/

Review for the New Forever 21 Store at Los Cerritos Mall (the good one + LOTS OF PICTURES)

So the previous post was written while I was still angry and upset at Forever 21 for making such a fuss about refunding (or NOT refunding) our money, accusing my friend of stealing, and not giving me my STUPID BASIC TOP. but anyways, daddy and i went there again (hehe) during sunset to take some pictures for y'all. I had to sneak in my sister's Canon EOS 5D so that you guys can marvel at how lucky I was to be at the grand opening of this wondrous store. Take a look:

i wasn't able to photograph all the rooms because one of the workers (THEY WERE EVERYWHERE! IT WAS SO HARD TO TAKE THESE PICTURES WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT!) did catch me just as i was about to take a really good one; i never took it, but i WILL someday. that dude was like, "I'm sorry, are you taking photos? No photos here, please, unless you have a permit from Forever 21." YEAH, YOU KNOW WHAT? i'm going to get that permit from Forever 21 some time! I'll be back soon.

All photos were taken and edited by me (=
